Reading and books in general
I like reading. I’ve grown up without any kind of game system and with TV allowed only occasionally. I had to find something to spend time doing and tumbled into reading. Reading provided an answer to boredom. I just loved being able to see the story at my own pace. I also liked the fact that I could imagine all the characters as I wished. Another thing I like about books is the fact that you can tell how close you are to the end and how much you’ve got left. One of the things that helped me get really interested in reading was that I stay up really late every night and I started to need something to do. Over the years I’ve gathered books on top of my bookshelves. Some of the books I’ve read more than once. Over the years I’ve amassed a mental list of my favorite books. These include Looking for Alaska, the Eragon series, the Artemis Fowl series, The Supernaturalist , the Harry Potter series, the Alex Rider series, ½ of Into Thin Air which I have yet to finish, and much, much more. Reading has been a way for me to escape this world and enter others as I please be it Hogwarts, or Middle Earth. This is why I love to read.

I agree with you about the escape opportunity. You named some of my favorite books. I recently re-read the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy which I hadn't read for years. I was influenced by the movies to see how true they were to the books. I loved reading them, and they took on a whole different life the second time around.
